What is it: Microscopy Anywhere (MA) is a web based interface that allows clients to remotely view, in real-time, imaging and analysis performed on AAI's Hitachi S-4800 Ultra Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (UFESEM) of their samples. Clients also now have the ability to download captured images in real-time and in their native, high resolution size as well.

How does it work: Remote access is gained by using a standard Internet connection to a designated web server and entering a username and password. A brief, one time account setup is all that is required to start doing off-site collaborative microscopy.

What is seen: Clients are able to: view up to four user selected video sources; talk to and collaborate with the microscopist; and direct the analysis in real time ... all from the convenience of their own desks. You will see the same images and image quality as you would if you were sitting next to the microscopist in AAI’s Ultra FE SEM lab.

Why use MA: Because there is no longer a need to be physically present during the analysis process which will enable you to:

• Save travel time to and from AAI;
• Multitask during an analysis session, thereby increasing productivity;
• Interface with work peers during the analysis session while they are all simultaneously viewing the analysis session, either with you, or at their own sites;
• Download and share any or all of the analysis or images with work peers, vendors, or clients, either in real time, or within 24 hours of the end of the session; and
• Perform UFESEM analysis when out of the office or out of the state . . . at a customer’s, vendor’s, or end user’s site.
